PDO / PCL dissolvable thread lift for nasolabial folds and jawline, visible from day one
TR LIFT (Thread Rejuvenation) places Thai FDA-registered dissolvable threads beneath the skin to lift and support tissue while stimulating collagen around each thread. Local anaesthetic, swelling for 3–7 days, results lasting 1–2 years.
How thread lifting works
Threads are introduced through a guide needle or cannula into the fat layer beneath the skin. Barbed threads grip the tissue and lift it towards a firmer anchoring point such as the temple or in front of the ear, so a change in contour is visible on the day. At the same time the body treats the thread as a foreign material and builds collagen around it, so once the thread has fully dissolved a collagen framework remains to support the skin for a further period.
Thread types the doctor may use
| Type | Characteristics | Dissolving time | Suited to |
|---|---|---|---|
| PDO Cog (barbed) | Barbs along the thread to grip and lift tissue | 6–8 months | Lifting nasolabial folds, jawline, double chin, brows |
| PDO Mono (smooth) | Many smooth threads placed in a mesh pattern | 6–8 months | Firmer skin, fine lines, tighter pores |
| PCL Cog | More flexible, slower to dissolve | 12–18 months | Wanting a longer-lasting lift |
| Screw / Tornado | Thread coiled in a spiral to add volume | 6–8 months | Small deep lines and adding firmness |
Areas that can be treated
- Nasolabial folds and sagging cheeks, lifting so the cheekbones appear higher
- Jawline and double chin, for a more defined jaw
- Downturned mouth corners and marionette lines
- Brows and upper eyelids beginning to droop
- Double chin and neck
- Body areas such as the abdomen and upper arms in selected cases, as the doctor assesses
The procedure day
Recovery
Dimpling or rippling of the skin along the thread, which mostly resolves on its own within 2–4 weeks; asymmetry; a thread end becoming visible or palpable; bruising; and, rarely, infection. If dimpling persists or a thread shows, the doctor can adjust or remove it. People with very thin skin or pronounced sagging may see the thread lines and may be better suited to another approach. Tell the doctor beforehand if you take blood thinners, have a history of keloids, have an infection or inflammatory acne in the area to be treated, have had non-dissolving filler or silicone injected there, are pregnant, or have an autoimmune condition

Frequently Asked Questions
Does a thread lift hurt?
Local anaesthetic is used. During the procedure you feel tightness and pulling rather than pain. Once the anaesthetic wears off there is mild aching and tightness for 2–3 days, controlled with ordinary painkillers.
How long does a thread lift last?
Generally 1–2 years. PDO threads dissolve in 6–8 months and PCL in 12–18 months, but the collagen built around the threads continues to support the skin after they dissolve. Results depend on age, skin and weight changes.
Can I have HIFU or laser after a thread lift?
Yes, but leave at least 4 weeks, or have HIFU first and the thread lift afterwards. The doctor will sequence them for you.
My skin is dimpled or rippled after the thread lift. What should I do?
This is usually a temporary effect of the barbs gripping the tissue and resolves on its own within 2–4 weeks. If it does not improve, return to the doctor to adjust or release the thread.
