Diamond Peel microdermabrasion: exfoliation for rough skin, pores and shallow dark marks
Diamond Peel uses a diamond-coated tip with vacuum suction to remove the dead surface layer in a controlled way while drawing out debris at the same time. Sessions are every 1–2 weeks, 5–10 in total.
How Diamond Peel works
The stainless-steel tip is coated with diamond crystals in several grades of coarseness: fine for the thin skin around the eyes, coarser for thicker skin on the forehead and nose. As it glides over the skin with suction, the thick, uneven stratum corneum is polished away in a thin layer of about 10–15 microns per session. This mechanical stimulation also speeds up cell renewal and boosts circulation, so with regular sessions the skin becomes smoother, pores look smaller and shallow dark marks fade. No chemicals are used, which suits people who react to exfoliating acids. It differs from traditional microdermabrasion, which sprays aluminium oxide crystals whose dust can irritate the eyes and airways.
Who it suits
- Rough, thick, uneven skin that feels coarse to the touch
- Enlarged pores and blackheads on the nose and chin
- Shallow dark marks from acne and uneven tone from sun exposure
- Fine lines and dullness from a build-up of dead skin cells
- Very shallow acne scars (softens the edges, but does not remove the scars)
- Preparing the skin so actives penetrate better before vitamin infusion

Have active inflamed, pustular or cystic acne (abrasion spreads bacteria and worsens inflammation); have rosacea or prominent broken capillaries; have cold sores, open wounds or sunburn; have taken oral isotretinoin within 6 months or applied retinoids within 3 days; have a history of keloids; or have had a resurfacing laser less than 2 weeks ago
Limitations to be aware of
Diamond Peel works only on the outermost layer of skin, so it does not treat deep melasma, moderate to deep acne scars or deep wrinkles. These concerns call for lasers or doctor-performed procedures. Abrading too hard or too often thins the skin and makes it sun-sensitive, so sessions should be at least 1 week apart, and people with darker skin should use lower suction to reduce the chance of post-inflammatory darkening. The doctor assesses your skin and adjusts the programme accordingly.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does Diamond Peel hurt? Will my skin peel?
No pain; you feel a slight coarseness and some suction. The skin is mildly red for 1–3 hours afterwards and does not peel in sheets, though it may feel slightly dry or tight for 1–2 days.
How many sessions before I see results?
Skin feels smoother and looks brighter from the first session. Pores and shallow dark marks need 5–10 sessions 1–2 weeks apart. Results depend on your skin.
Can I have it if I have acne?
Blackheads and whiteheads are fine, and the treatment makes extraction easier. Inflamed, pustular acne should not be treated this way; the doctor will calm the inflammation first.
Should I choose Diamond Peel or the jet peel?
Thick, rough skin with many blackheads suits Diamond Peel. Thin, sensitive skin that reddens easily suits the jet peel. Many people alternate the two within a package on the doctor's advice.
