Prefect Wave LDM-MED

LDM-MED 1 / 3 / 10 MHz ultrasound to reduce inflammation and restore scars and keloids

LDM (Local Dynamic Micro-massage) from the Prefect Wave device alternates two ultrasound frequencies 500 times a second to rebalance enzymes in the skin, reduce inflammation and remodel collagen, with no heat and no pain.

How LDM differs from conventional ultrasound

Conventional physiotherapy ultrasound uses a single frequency of 1 or 3 MHz to deliver deep heat. LDM-MED from Nemectron in Germany alternates two frequencies simultaneously, such as 3 with 10 MHz or 1 with 3 MHz, up to 500 times a second, creating alternating compression and release at cellular level while the skin temperature barely rises. The developer reports that this massaging force reduces the activity of MMP enzymes that break down collagen and increases HA production in the skin. The 10 MHz frequency acts mainly on the surface skin, making it suited to rashes and superficial scars.

What it is used for

Scars, acne scars, keloids

Softens scars, reduces itching and limits excess fibrous tissue. Used alongside EnerJet or laser

Inflammatory acne and sensitive skin

Reduces inflammation and redness without heat; can be done even during active acne

Atopic dermatitis and psoriasis

Used as supportive care alongside a dermatologist's medication; helps reduce itching and plaque thickness in some patients. Not a replacement for medication

After liposuction and surgery

Reduces swelling and bruising, smooths the skin and softens tissue faster. Can begin from the first week after surgery, with the surgeon's permission

After laser, HIFU or thread lifts

Reduces redness and swelling for a more comfortable recovery

Early sagging and fine lines

Increases skin hydration and firmness when done as a course. Suited to ongoing maintenance

The procedure day

Assessment and programme selectionThe doctor selects the frequency pair and energy for your concern, such as the scar, inflammation or post-surgery programme
Coupling gel appliedNo anaesthetic needed; no heat or pain
Handpiece moved in circles over the skinYou feel only the cool handpiece moving back and forth. 15–30 minutes per area
Gel wiped off, carry on immediatelyNo redness, no downtime, make-up can be worn immediately

Recommended number of sessions

ConcernFrequencyTypical number of sessions
Reducing swelling after procedures2–3 times a week3–6 sessions
Scars and keloids1–2 times a week8–12 sessions, then reassess
Inflammatory acne, eczema1–2 times a week6–10 sessions, with medication from the doctor
After liposuctionTwice a week6–10 sessions
Skin rejuvenation and hydrationOnce a week6–8 sessions, then monthly maintenance
LDM is not suitable if you

Have a pacemaker or other implanted electronic device, have metal or implanted materials in the treatment area, have an unhealed fracture in that area, are pregnant (the abdomen and lower back are avoided), have a malignant tumour or are undergoing cancer treatment, or have an acute infection or deep vein thrombosis in the area

Realistic expectations

LDM is a comfortable supportive treatment with very little risk, but results are gradual and it needs to be done as a course. It is not a single-session visible lift like HIFU. For psoriasis or atopic dermatitis, LDM helps relieve local symptoms but does not cure the condition, which must be treated primarily according to a dermatologist's plan.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is LDM painful or hot?

No. You feel only the cool handpiece moving over gel-coated skin. No anaesthetic is needed, and it can be done even when the skin is inflamed.

Can LDM reduce fat?

Not directly. LDM is not a fat-reduction device, but it is used after liposuction to reduce swelling and bruising and smooth the skin faster.

Can LDM be combined with medication or other treatments?

Yes, and it is usually recommended alongside them, such as with topical medication for rashes, with EnerJet or laser for scars, or after HIFU and thread lifts to reduce swelling.

After how many sessions will I see results?

Reduced swelling and redness can be seen from the first or second session. Scars, keloids and chronic rashes need 8–12 sessions before results can be assessed clearly. Results vary from person to person.
